If elected, what are your plans for office?

I will work with the BOD, HOD Leadership and ADA staff to improve the health of Americans, improve the public trust and empower RDs to be the best they can be. I will be open to member issues and help to facilitate consensus that will lead to accomplishing the organization's mission, vision and stratigic goals. I will foster commuication to members and non members in hopes of promoting an atmosphere of collaboration, inclusivity and diversity. I will bring my teambuilding, organizational and creative skills to committee and task force assigments. I will promote ADA to members, non members and the public through media presentations, workshops, and publications.

Give an example of how you successfully led a team to accomplish an objective/goal.

As chair elect of the NCP/SL Committee, I lead the group in accomplishing the goals set for the 2008-2009 Committee. During that time the committee developed the Electronic Health Record Toolkit and approved the LTC and Neonatal Toolkit, Developed CEU questions for the Tutorials on the websit and completed a major revision of the NCP web sit.

Describe your most fulfilling leadership experience.

As Director of Clinical Services for Nutrition Systems, I am responsible for managing a staff of 16 dietitians that consult in 95 health care communities. As the leader of these professionals I am responsible for the development of all policies, procedures and tools for their use. I am responsible for developing buisness opportunities, staff recruitement, staff training and evaluation. Most importantly I am responsbile for ensuring the quailty of nutrition care that is provided by the staff and promoting compliance with regulatory agencies. Serving as the liasion between the Nutrition Systems staff, the corporate and administrative staff and the staff of healthcare facilities is the most fullfilling part of my job.

Identify 3 of your strengths/skills that make you an ideal candidate.

I successfully work with and supervise individuals of all ages and genders which demonstrates my skills for developing relationships, building teams and motivation. I have demonstrated organization and managment skills in the leadership of my state organization, chair of the NCP/SL Committee and as the operational and religious leader in the Cursillo movement. I have very strong presentation skills that have been demonstrated recently in a presentation at 2009 FNCE and a webinare presentation to the HOD on the NCP/SL.
