If elected, what are your plans for office?

If elected to a position at CDR I would continue to promote dietitian involvement in state licensure, education programs for dietetic students, projections for the future of dietetics, new avenues to registration for dietitians and dietetic technicians, and ways to mentor young dietitians to become volunteers working for the future of our profession.

Give an example of how you successfully led a team to accomplish an objective/goal.

Over the years I have been involved in leadership roles and support roles to get a Dietetics Licensure Act passed in Georgia. The concept for Licensure in Georgia started at a Strategic Planning Meeting in my living room and now I serve as the Chairperson of the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians. The plans for Licensure started with a few GDA Board Members back in 1980 and we worked tirelessly for many years to get Licensure in Georgia. Then we molded it through a law revision and many rules revisions. At the times when I was not the leader of this effort I was a volunteer working to reach the goals.

Describe your most fulfilling leadership experience.

Fulfillment for me for leadership involvement is seeing the various students and interns graduate, pass their registration examination, become licensed in Georgia or another state and then become involved as young RD volunteers in the profession. Helping, mentoring, and having new volunteers for our profession is the most fulfilling for me. Many other thinjgs I have been involved with such CADE Site Visits, Licensure in GA, being a Delegate to the ADA HOD are all fulfilling but seeing new, energetic volunteers for our profession is the most fulfilling for me.

Identify 3 of your strengths/skills that make you an ideal candidate.

1. Tenacity to stick with projects, jobs, activities, teaching, and education opportunities. 2. Strong organizational skills but willing to look outside the box for better ways to accomplish a project or task. 3. Mentoring skills where I have nurtured along many other dietitians to become involved and be up to date in their profession. This mentoring is evidenced by the many younger dietitians I have been able to help get involved and be passionate about their profession.
