If elected, what are your plans for office?

When I am elected as Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education Chair, my priorities will focus on increased transparency of the accredidation process, clarification of the standards, improved communication between CADE and educators, and continued evolution to a "new" CADE.

Give an example of how you successfully led a team to accomplish an objective/goal.

In 2008, I was invited to be a part of a program called the "Quality Workout". This program was comprised of clinical experts with specific knowledge on patient safety and quality requirements for patient care. My role was to evaluate the current health system accreditation process. I evaluated policy language, clinical understanding of the policies, and compliance with and implementation of policy guidelines. I also worked to improve staff members' understanding and preception of the current policies and assisted in developing action plans. I took the lead on the team to develop specific projects that improvemed patient safety and quality of patient care. Our goal to have a successful Joint Commission survey was accomplished!

Describe your most fulfilling leadership experience.

My most fulfilling leadership experience was the inception and development of an accredited dietetic internship in my facility. I took the lead in initiating, acquiring accreditation, implementating, and maintaining a high quality Dietetic Internship at the Baptist Health System. I have always and continue to enjoy educating the next generation of dietitians.

The three strengths that make me an ideal candidate include: my ability to empower and motivate staff to take ownership of projects, my committment to delivering high quality products and outcomes, and my skill in facilitating teamwork to achieve a common goal.
