If elected, what are your plans for office?
I would work hard to champion the work of colleagues everywhere. Moving the association and its members forward is the goal. Dietetic professionals' roles continue to change and we must position ourselves to be ready for these changes.
Give an example of how you successfully led a team to accomplish an objective/goal.
One of the most recent examples was this past years' celebration of Registered Dietitan Day and National Nutrition Month. I listened to ideas and actively engaged everyone, decided on a course of action and assigned tasks by interests. Work got accomplished and we had fun.
Describe your most fulfilling leadership experience.
I was excited to be asked to chair the Professional Development Committee the first year the group helped plan ADA's Leadership Institute. Our committee really clicked and worked hard to plan a very successful program. During the Institute it was extremely rewarding to have so many members come up and congratulate our committee for a job well done.
Identify 3 of your strengths/skills that make you an ideal candidate.
One of my strenghts is in building consensus by getting people to openly communicate and express new ideas. Being positive and remaining cool, calm and collected is another strength. Not sweating the small stuff is key. Finally, my ability to problem solve and analyze a situation is a great asset.
