If elected, what are your plans for office?
My plans are simple: to listen, then advocate.
In order to accomplish my plans, I will hear from the diverse range of RDs who are 30 and under, in all the ways we love to communicate -- on Twitter, Facebook, blogs, list-serves, e-mail, text messages, cell phone, and even, on occasion, in person.
Then, I will take what I hear, identify what's important to my peers, and make sure our concerns are heard.
Give an example of how you successfully led a team to accomplish an objective/goal.
As Editor-in-Chief of a quarterly nutrition newsletter, I worked with a team of writers and editors to successfully publish a high quality publication. I oversaw and coordinated all aspects of the publication process from story generation to managing project timelines, and editing language and layouts. I was a resource to all team members, delegated responsibilities, shared best practices, and mentored new writers.
Describe your most fulfilling leadership experience.
One of my most fulfilling leadership experiences was as a nutrition educator in East Harlem where I had the privilege of leading a classroom of 3rd and 4th grade school children through a 10-week nutrition education curriculum. It was a pleasure to see them get excited about food and nutrition, and to be a mentor to the students.
Identify 3 of your strengths/skills that make you an ideal candidate.
First, I enjoy learning from and connecting people, and I want to help people succeed. Perhaps I am drawn to mentoring because I've had and have so many great mentors of my own.
Second, I am creative problem solver, and choose to think of solutions before I think of barriers.
Third, I am organized, which is an important skill to have in any position.
