If elected, what are your plans for office?
My "elect" year will be devoted to diligently working with the treasurer and ADA staff to understand fiscal realities, market conditions and optimal strategies to keep ADA financially strong. As treasurer I would be committed to providing members with even more value added services, products and representation with consideration for their economic realities.
Give an example of how you successfully led a team to accomplish an objective/goal.
In a time of extraordinary fiscal issues, I challenged my department members to identify money-saving specifics that would not jeopardize patient care or customer service. Team members rose to the occasion. Implementing these ideas resulted in substantial savings and end of year performance "under budget" while maintaining service. In addition the commitment we demonstrated resulted in no loss of "filled" positions during a time of layoffs.
Describe your most fulfilling leadership experience.
One of most fulfilling experiences I have had was leading a team of interdisciplinary healthcare professionals in the revision of the standards of nutrition care for hospitalized patients. This work was accomplished primarily via conference calls and electronic communication. In spite of the lack of "face time" the team members were highly committed, organized, responsive and productive. Areas of disagreement arose and were addressed through a "due process" that respected opinions of all and maintained commitment to regulatory and professional considerations.
Identify 3 of your strengths/skills that make you an ideal candidate.
I am highly organized, extremely attentive to detail, and completely and humbly engaged in identifying the issues that define a problem or concern and using the power of a team to seek effective ways to address them.
