I will work as a team member of the Nominating Committee to select candidates who are proactive in the ever-changing dietetic marketplace, demonstrate concern and support for diversity recruitment efforts, advocate for Health Care Reform and inclusion of preventive services, utilize and/or support evidence-based dietetic practice.

As Chair of the CDR Competency Assurance Panel in the late 90's, we evaluated, tested and supported the goal of the PDP (Portfolio Development Plan), despite misgivings from many practitioners. This was our first step in objectively demonstrating continuing competency of our practitioners.

My most rewarding leadership experience was my recent term as House of Delegates/ADA Board Director. At this level I participated in and supported the significant changes in the governance of the House, resulting in more member input, targeted motions and action steps. Also, I applaud the leadership changes in the ADA Office resulting in a more member-oriented organization. The support from the ADA Staff has been and continues to be outstanding.

(1) My demonstrated leadership skills at the district, state and national levels; (2) my strong professional network that I have maintained in several states; and (3) concern for our profession's future are the important attributes that I will bring to the Nominating Committee.
